ECO house visit
Go Greener visit The 'Lomond' environmentally conscious development at Balgrath Gardens, Ayr.

In addition to the many energy saving devices such as the traditional wall and roof insulation there is super insulated glazing, underfloor heating to maximize the ground source heat pump and a rainwater harvesting tank buried in the garden. Timber has been sourced from an FSC supplier (sustainable forest), with other construction materials being obtained from environmentally friendly sources.

The hot water supplied via the groundsource heat pump uses natural heat from the ground gathered from two boreholes in the garden 80m deep.

Rainwater is pumped into a tank in the roofspace from the garden, this water is then used for flushing toilets in the property. There is also an option to connect the washing machine to either mains or rainwater supply.

The evening was hosted by Mactaggart & Mickle who provided Go Greener guests with refreshments.
